Certified Karoo lamb - grass fed, minimum 70% grass fed and follows the Karoo Lamb controrium which gives oversight to the Karoo Lamb. The protocol is as follows:

Only animals originating from (that is born in) the Karoo, or alternatively, that is born outside the Karoo but remained in the area of the Karoo for a continuous period of at least 6 months immediately before slaughter will qualify.

Only animals that feeds freely on indigenous veldt, in sizable camps representative of the identified typical Karoo vegetation who has access to clean water, qualifies for certification. Animals originating from feedlots do not qualify for certification. Free range grazing is a specific requirement for this mark. No routine antibiotics are allowed and the withdrawal periods have to be adhered to. Added hormones are prohibited. The mark guarantees full traceability.

Game is from Buffelshoek safari in Somerset East - 30 July 2024:

We have a registered game meat abattoir between the mountains in the Swaershoek area which is situated between Cradock and Somerset East. We only supply venison to Ryan Boon speciality meats so these questions have no relevance to game meat or us. Venison is game animals, roaming freely without human intervention regarding antibiotics, pregnancy cycles or weaning  whatsoever.  They do not get any supplements or hormones.  They do not get transported alive and are shot in the veld, dressed according to specifications, chilled and carcasses get transported to us.”
